Girls Guide to Blogging

I write a three blogs right now: Chic and Charming, Charming Dandy and Chic and Green. I am in the process of starting a fourth website, about art collecting. I also produce a podcast, Charming Chat.

2. What do you blog about?

Chic and Charming is a “modern salon for smart, fashionable women.” Essentially it is a women’s lifestyle blog covering fashion, style, etiquette, decorating and entertainment. I feel like Chic and Charming is “me”…your smart, bubbly girlfriend with a shopping addiction, head full of totally random yet interesting information and great sense of humor.

Charming Dandy is a fashion and lifestyle advice blog for men. I was inspired to start the Charming Dandy after watching some of my best male friends make some horrible fashion choices and etiquette faux pas.

Chic and Green is a shopping blog that spotlights green brands and products.

3. Why did you start blogging?

In the very beginning I started blogging to promote a small handmade jewelry business. I found that blogging was more rewards and much less expensive, so I dumped the jewelry and kept the blog. I love learning about new technology and online tools, so I am constantly pushing my own limits with my projects. I am 100% self taught and almost everything you see on my blogs was designed by me mainly by customizing free, available templates.

4. What is your goal as a blogger?

To achieve world domination and build a mini media empire. I would settle for being asked by Chanel to come test out their NEXT perfume in Paris.

5. What advice would you offer to other bloggers?

Blogging success rarely comes quickly. Building and designing a blog is a slow, iterative process. Be patient, and learn to love tinkering! Never allow anyone to do a “pay per post” on your blog.
