What is a blog carnival?
A blog carnival is an organized effort by a community of bloggers to post on a specific topic. The Carnival organizer compiles links to all of the articles written on this topic by the community and posts them as a single post, sometimes with commentary and annotation. Members have the option to republish the carnival post on their own website to encourage their readers to check out other blogs posting on the carnival’s topic.

Why should I participate in the Girls Guide to Blogging Community Carnival (GG2B Carnival)?
The Girls Guide to Blogging Community Carnival will typically focus on universal topics that bloggers from any niche can write about. The carnival will benefit you as a blogger by increasing your visibility through links on other blogs, possibly bringing you new subscribers and traffic. Further, each month blogs all over the internet will be linking to your blog when they post the carnival, thus increasing your technocrati ranking. The GG2B Carnival will benefit the blogging community by introducing you to new bloggers, who you can add to your blogging network. Finally, many of the carnival topics will be about how you blog and network, which help you think about how to become a better blogger and help others in the community as they learn from your experience.
How do I participate in the GG2B Carnival?
I will email anyone who expressed interest in participating in their GG2B profile with information automatically with a link to the Carnival submission form. If you are not a member and wish to participate, please email me directly at girls.guide.to.blogging@gmail.com
At the beginning of each month I will post the Carnival’s topic on the front page of the GG2B website. Participants will typically have an entire month to think about the post topic, compose their article and post it on their own blog. After posting the article, you should come back to girlsguidetoblogging.com and fill in the submission form. I will typically post the carnival during the last week of each month, and I will email a text containing the HTML code for the post anyone who expressed interest on the submission form, including links to relevant images on Flickr. Participants are encouraged, but not required to post the carnival on their blog.
In the event that there are over thirty entries in a given month, I will split the carnival into two articles, which will be post two weeks apart.
I hope that all makes sense! Trust me, it will be easy once you do it the first time!
What is this month’s topic?
May’s topic is “my first blog post.” To participate in this carnival edition you should dig through your blog to look at your very first post with you now experienced blogger eyes. Write a new post about what you were thinking when you wrote this first post, or why you chose that particular topic. Would you still write the same post today? How would you write it differently? For this GG2B Carnival edition you should write what ever your reaction is now to your first post…and of course include a link so that we can all see how it all began!

I am interested in joining! I will email you soon. Thanks.
