Why did you start blogging?
My day job is a little dry and I don’t have that much opportunity to write anymore. I found myself e-mailing people long funny stories and realized that it would make much more sense to just start a blog that they could visit whenever they wanted to check in with me. Mainly, I try to keep things humorous and most posts revolve around my family; but I just started a couple of weeks ago – so we’ll see how it develops over time.
What is your goal as a blogger?
I’m interested in improving my writing and getting some experience in editing myself (right now I have really, really long posts – so I have my work cut out for me). But I’m also enjoying the blog’s use as a means of communication – both with existing friends/family and new ones (I’ve met some great people online). Since my current blog is a bit of a catch all at the moment – I may eventually start other more focused ones.
What advice would you offer to other bloggers?
Don’t be afraid to be honest. It’s so easy to worry about what people will think – how they will perceive you as a person based on what you say. If you want to be controversial, what is the worst thing that can happen? That someone out in cyberspace may not like you? Most likely that critic will visit you daily. Also read your posts before you post them AND after you post them. It’s amazing how many typos you can catch in a differnt view.
Guest posting is an excellent way to promote your blog, would you be interested in exchanging guest posts with other bloggers in your niche? How would you like to be contacted?
