What is Cyber Monday?

This is the first year that I’ve really heard the term Cyber Monday used extensively, and I’ve kind of been wondering where the heck it came from. The term was coined in 2005 by U.S. trade association National Retail Federation on shop.org. The term refers to a putative surge in online sales on the Monday following black Friday, when shoppers start buying things online that were out of stock in stores. As far as I can tell, there is not much in the way of “special deals” to be had online today, “Cyber Monday,” mostly just free shipping.

For a longer explanation, check out the wikipedia article “Cyber Monday” and for a directory of Cyber Monday deal, check out the Shop.org sponsored Cybermonday.com. Also check out this just posted code list on Martini Lifestyle, Beer Budget.
