I just discovered that Moo.com has a series of super cute minicard holders for sale. Holders come in leather, felt and plastic and range in price from $5-$20.

Gala from iCiNG announced on twitter yesterday: “ Someone ranked me #42 out of the 50 most influential female bloggers.” I had to know, what is this list? North X East is a relatively new website in the “how to blog” niche, and the author of “NxE’s Fifty Most Influential ‘Female’ Bloggers.“

Definite themes emerge on the list with technology, gossip and politics filling out most of the list. I was not terribly surprised by most of the top bloggers…Lisa Stone, Elisa Camahort Page and Jory Des Jardins of Blogher, Heather Armstrong of Dooce, Lisa Sugar of Sugar Inc, Elizabeth Spiers- Co-found of Gawker and Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing. Huffington Post actually warranted two entries on the list, one for the founder, Ariana Huffington, and another for one of the top editors, Rachel Sklar. In fact, most women on the list have serious background in web design, graphic design, journalism or politics. The list is littered with women who have started successful technology startup companies.

This left me wonder, is there hope for us girls who blog on the side? Those of us who do not specialize in one of the hottest new programming languages? Is there anyway for Sophia Charming to one day emerge as a blogging leader? Or any other member of Girls Guide to Blogging? Near the bottom of the list there are a few women whose blogs are less focused, and in my opinion inspirational for new bloggers…Karen Cheng of Snippets of Life, Ms. Danielle, and my personal favorite Gala Darling of iCiNG. Looking over these blogs it is apparent that a strong voice, well written informative posts and beautiful design are definite musts for women who want to author successful blogs.

A judge ordered Google to turn over all of the information about You Tube users to Viacom, a company suing Google for copyright infringement. If you were not already aware, Google stores a great deal of data about users including your IP Address and viewing history. This ruling has major implications for personal privacy on the internet, and highlights how easy it is for corporations to obtain information about your activities online.

So, since originally I thought that the new advertisements would only show up in feeds, I activated it on all my blogs. I visited Chic and Charming after activating the service and discovered advertisements were added to the end of each post. As a result had about 11 Google text advertisements on each page. Personally, I thought it was overkill so I turned off the service immediately.

I’ve turned Adsense through Feedburner on in Girls Guide to Blogging to experiment with the service. This is my first post with the feature enabled, so we will have to see how it turns out! I plan on leaving Adsense turned on for Girls Guide to Blogging for at least a week (if not indefinitely), so that you guys can see how the advertisements are integrated into a website. I feel like the advertisement is a little buried. Perhaps I will delete author box…its seems like overkill.

I have been interested in fashion since I got my first pair of shoes. Since graduation, I have been working in non-profit and government public relations and I needed a way to keep up with my love of fashion and PR. My goal is to work for Vogue or one of the fashion/beauty magazines so blogging is a way to sharpen my skills.

My goal as a blogger is to become one of the hottest blogs on the market with a wide readership base.

Start of small and figure out your niche.

Mostly design - graphic, fashion, interior. For the summer my blog is focusing more on interiors as I am decorating a new apartment.

Why did you start blogging?
I’ve been blogging for ages. Boredom at first, probably. Now, I see it as a way of plonking my thoughts out there for random people to read, comment on and disagree with. I like the conversation aspect of blogs.

What is your goal as a blogger?
To be able to write bigger and better posts, finally getting all this stuff in my head, down on paper.

What advice would you offer to other bloggers?
Blogging is a community. Get out there, read other people’s stuff, comment on it, recommend it to others, write about what interests you. Don’t focus on page hits and comments… that’s not the reason you blog, is it?
